Common questions.
Is my test result kept private?
Yes. Your STI results are fully confidential and protected under HIPAA. We will not share them without your written consent, except as required by Maryland law for certain reportable conditions.
How soon after exposure should I get tested?
It depends on the infection; most have a "window period" of 2–6 weeks. HIV testing is most accurate 18–45 days after exposure. We'll advise you on the right timing for your situation.
Can you treat me on the same day I test positive?
For bacterial STIs like chlamydia and gonorrhea, we can often treat you at the same visit. Viral STIs like herpes or HIV require a follow-up management plan, which we'll walk through with you.
Do you offer PrEP for HIV prevention?
Yes. If you're HIV-negative and at higher risk, we can evaluate you for PrEP and prescribe it if appropriate. PrEP is highly effective at preventing HIV transmission.
Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are welcome. Calling ahead at 240-332-4439 can reduce your wait time and ensures we have the right test kits ready.
