Common questions.
Is this treatment confidential?
Yes. Your care is fully protected under HIPAA. We also follow 42 CFR Part 2, which adds extra confidentiality protections for substance use disorder treatment records.
What is buprenorphine and is it safe?
Buprenorphine (brand name Suboxone) is an FDA-approved medication that reduces cravings and withdrawal symptoms. It is safe, effective, and widely used as the standard of care for opioid use disorder.
Do I need to be in active withdrawal to start treatment?
Starting medication at the right time is important for safety and effectiveness. Your provider will walk you through exactly what to expect and how to prepare at your intake appointment.
Will I need counseling too?
Medication is often most effective when combined with counseling. We can provide referrals to licensed counselors and peer support programs in Prince George's County.
How long does treatment last?
Treatment length varies by person. Some patients do well for 1–2 years; others benefit from longer-term maintenance. We'll work with you on a plan that fits your life and goals.
